Incorporated in 1995, the Town of Avon is located five miles west of Indianapolis in Hendricks County and is ten minutes away from Indianapolis International Airport.
Avon is the only Tree City USA Community in Hendricks County and prides itself in the preservation of the natural environment.
Avon has a rich musical tradition that includes two national championships for the Avon High School Marching band. Avon is also the home of the Hendricks Symphony and Choir and musician Natalie Walker got her start as a AHS music student. Ms. Walker's music has been on Grey's Anatomy and Ugly Betty.

82.5 acre Avon Town Hall Park offers amenites including walking trails, nine acre lake, two ponds, fishing, shelters, 3 playgrounds, natural walking paths, 18 hole disc golf course, free WIFI, 2 outdoor table tennis tables with free paddles and ball available for use. It is also the home of the Angel of Hope statue to remember children that have passed away and the Military and Public Safety Memorial. It is home to the Avon Relay for Life, Angel of Hope Ceremony, Model Boat Spring Regatta, Fall Outdoor Concert, WWII Memorial Car Show, Avon Community Heritage Festival Talent Show and the Spring Art Show.

120 acre Washington Township Park is owned and operated by Washington Township Parks Department and has playgrounds, splash pad, shelters, bike trails, fishing pond, basketball court, open playing area, band concert shell and meeting pavilion. It is the home of the Avon Community Heritage Festival and Hendricks County Rib Fest.
