Category Home The Town of Avon is home to the Avon Community School Corporation (ACSC)which oversees the operation of six elementary schools, two intermediate schools (5th and 6th grade), two middle schools (7th and 8th grade) and a high school (grades 9-12). The Avon schools were recently recognized as Indiana "Four Star" schools by the Indiana Department of Education by placing in the top 25 percent of all Indiana schools for its statewide testing scores (ISTEP) and graduation rate. Avon Community School Corporation![]() The Avon Community School Corporation serves more than 9200students and provides direction and oversight for the school district. More than 75% of the Corporation's staff have advanced degrees. Avon High School was recently named a Best Buy by the Indiana Chamber of Commerce. |
| Avon Board of School Trustees The Corporation has a five member school board that is elected "at large", meaning that members represent the entire school board district (Washington Township in Hendricks County). Each member serves a four-year term. |
| Avon Elementary Schools The Town of Avon has six elementary schools to serve the community. Elementary education includes Kindergarten and grades one through four. The six schools are:

Avon Intermediate Schools![]() Intermediate school curriculum is designed to gradually transition 5th and 6th grade students to a multi-teacher classroom environment. Schools have full-time teachers in visual art, music, physical education and creative experiences as well as full-time teachers and instructional assistants for students with special needs.

Avon Middle Schools![]() The middle schools are designed to be a transition from the primarily self-contained classroom atmosphere of the elementary school to the departmentalization of the high school. In addition to core subjects, the Middle school curriculum includes family and consumer science, industrial technology, computers, choir and band.

| Avon High School ![]() The new $65 million Avon High School opened in August 1999. The school is divided into departments to aid interdisciplinary teaching teams and boasts an award-winning student newspaper. The amenities complement the first-class curriculum and include a 4,100 seat gymnasium, 3 court gymnasium with track, eight-lane swimming pool and a 1,000 seat auditorium. An advanced learning center will be open for Seniors in the fall of 2010. |
