Parks and Recreation
The Avon Department of Parks and Recreation is responsible for the maintenance of the Avon Town Hall Park, Recreation and beautification in the Town of Avon. The Department is also responsible for administering the Town's urban forestry program as part of its Tree City USA Designation. Washington Township Park is owned and operated by the Washington Township Parks Department.
The Town Hall Park consists of :
- 83 Total Acres
- 20 acres of usable open space
- 5 acres of Native Indiana Prairie
- 9 acre Scenic Lake with Overlook Structure
-2 small ponds
- 15 acres of Woods
- 12.5 acres undeveloped with natural trails
- 2 Playgrounds at the North End
-1 Playground at the South End near the Shelter
- 18-hole Disc Golf Course (free)
- 2.0 miles of 10' paved multiuse trails, including one trail that connects to the Avon Washington Township Library
- Professional Landscaping
- Bird Houses
- Traditional Horse Barn (entry restricted)
- Large Shelter with restrooms
-Small Shelters throughout Park
-Free WIFI
- Two table tennis tables by the Shelter (paddles and balls available on the Shelter Wall)
-Parking is available at the South End next to Town Hall with access from US 36 and at the North End with access from Romeo Drive to Ophelia Drive.
Future Planned Projects!
- Design of Trail from US 36 to CR 100 S along White Lick Creek. Town received $665,000 Grant from the State. Design underway. Construction anticipated in spring 2012.
-Trail construction along 100 North from Harvest Ridge to Dan Jones/100 North Roundabout in 2011.
-Sidewalk construction for missing sections along 100 North, east of Dan Jones and along Dan Jones, south of 100 North in 2011.
-Preliminary conceptual design for trail from SR 267 to 100 North in 2011
-Design of trail from Town Hall Park to Washington Township Park in 2012. The Town received a federal grant for the construction of this trail.
-Town Hall Park entrance from CR 671 North.
