Police Merit Commission
The Avon Police Merit Commission consists of three commissioners appointed by the Town Council and two commissioners appointed by the police officers. The commission provides oversight for the Avon Police Department. Duties and responsibilities of the commission include the following:
- Serve as the Safety Board for the purposes of hiring, promotion, and discipline of all merit police officers.
The commission meets once a month, or as needed, in a public meeting format, at the Avon Town Hall. All meetings are publicly posted in accordance with Indiana statutes.
