Board of Zoning Appeals
The Board of Zoning Appeals is five-member board that is charged with the power to grant variances or special exceptions from the town's Development Standards as defined in the Comprehensive Zoning Ordinance. The Board can also classify uses not listed in the Zoning Ordinance.

2012 Members:
Corey Herbert
Corey has been a resident of Avon with his wife Danielle for five years now. Corey works at Huntington Bank downtown Indianapolis in the commercial department as a Senior Credit Analyst. Corey has his bachelor's degree from New Mexico State University in Finance and an MBA from Indiana Wesleyan University. Corey and Danielle have one son Andrew and are expecting another child in September. Corey is actively involved in many activities through his local church Kingsway Christian Church and is on the Board of Directors for Eli Eddie Welch, Inc. a not for profit that strives to help the local children of Avon and Hendricks County.
Vernon Lorenz
Vernon holds a bachelor's degree and a law degree and has a law office in Indianapolis where he specializes in the defense of the criminally accused. Vernon is licensed in Arizona and Indiana and practices in both state and federal courts. Vernon and his wife Julie moved here from Arizona in 2000 with their two children, Sarah and Christian. Both children attend Avon High School where they are members of the swim team. Vernon became involved with the Board of Zoning Appeals in an effort to "give back" to the Avon community as Avon provides so much to so many.

Mike Childs
Mike has been a resident of Avon for fifteen years and previously served the town as the president of the Economic Redevelopment Commission (1998 - 1999) and member of the Town Council (2000 - 2002). He counts his role in the purchase and development of the Avon Town Hall property as one of the finest achievements during his previous service and looks forward to once again serving this outstanding community. Mike attended Wittenberg University in Springfield, Ohio and enjoyed a 30 year career in the information technology industry before becoming an independent insurance agent in 2010. He and his wife, Patricia, live in Cobblestone Springs. They have a daughter who is married to a great son-in-law, a son who is currently serving his second tour in Iraq with the 25th Infantry, a son who is attending Indiana University and is a member of the Indiana National Guard, and two wonderful grandsons.
Kashif Khan
Mr. Khan was born in Pakistan, raised and schooled in New York City, and has been an Avon Resident since 2003 with his wife and three children. He brings over 15 years of diverse civil engineering experience encompassing the design and inspection of large, public and private infrastructure projects including roads, bridges, water, land development and aviation disciplines. He is a licensed professional engineer in Indiana, Illinois and Ohio. He completed his Bachelor of Engineering in Civil Engineering from the City College of the City University of New York and MBA from University of Indianapolis. As the Vice President of Infrastructure Engineering, Inc., he oversees a staff of more than 60 employees in multiple offices throughout the Midwest.
Mr. Khan is a strong believer in community service, which is rooted in the belief and spirit of giving back to the community one is part of. His broad exposure to various disciplines within the Civil Engineering industry allows him to offer integrated and sophisticated solutions to clients that blend multiple, and potentially conflicting elements, in harmony.
