Town of Avon, Indiana

 

The Town Council has designated Dan Jones Road as a Blue Star Memorial Parkway to honor the service men and women of the US Armed Forces. It is the first local road in Hendricks County to receive the designation.

 

 

RESOLUTION 2011-20

 

Designating Dan Jones Road as a Blue Star Memorial Parkway

 

            WHEREAS, Dan Jones Road is a major thoroughfare through Avon;

 

            WHEREAS, the World War II Memorial Park is located along Dan Jones Road;

 

WHEREAS, the Indiana Blue Star Salute is headquartered in Avon;

 

WHEREAS, the Blue Star Memorial Highway and Scenic Byway Program is a national effort to recognize and honor military service men and women;

 

WHEREAS, Interstate 70 and US Highway 40 are designated Blue Star Memorial Highways but no local roads in Hendricks County have received this designation;

 

NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE TOWN COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF AVON, INDIANA AS FOLLOWS:

 

Dan Jones Road is designated a Blue Star Memorial Parkway to honor the military service men and women of the United States of America.

           

                       

            This resolution is hereby passed and adopted this 23^rd day of June, 2011.
