THE TOWN OF AVON IS NOW A TREE CITY USA!
Avon has recently been designated a Tree City USA by the National Arbor Day Foundation. This means that the Town is dedicated to increasing and improving Avon's urban forest. Trees that make up urban forests are "working trees"- they have a job. Urban Forests are an important and often overlooked necessity for urban areas because they soften the appearance of large buildings and parking lots, absorb carbon dioxide and release nice, clean air for us to breath. Trees also cool our hot pavement with their shade.
*NEW!* Memorial Tree Program- have a tree planted in the Avon Town Hall Park in memory of a loved one, to honor a friend, or even to celebrate the birth of a baby! The cost is $250 and includes one tree approximately 1.5" in caliper, an engraved stone (to be placed by the tree), and a certificate. Click here for more details and the order form.
Attention Boy Scout and Girl Scout Troops! Looking for a community service project for your group? Then we need your help improving Avon's Urban Forest and Town Hall Park! Contact Erin Mulryan if your troop is interested in doing a project.

"Thus, he who owns a veteran bur oak owns more than a tree. He owns a historical library, and a reserved seat in the theater of evolution..."
