Washington Township Community Park
Located on US 36 just west of SR-267 and the Avon Town Hall, the Avon-Washington Township Community Park has a wealth of facilities and plays host to numerous annual events including the Avon Heritage Festival in September.  In 2002, the park expanded to include mountain biking trails.

History
  • Opened in 1989, the Washington Township Community Park provides a wealth of facilities for township residents.  It is estimated that more than 100,000 people visit the park on an annual basis.

Annual Events
Recent Highlights

(1998) Announced that over 100,000 visited the park in 1997.
Most facilities are booked solid most weekends from May to October with wedding receptions and company parties.

Administrative offices are established in the Avon Fire Department.  10 acres east of the park are "flood plained" property and are being considered for use by the parks board.

(1999) New trustee Gary Smith starts January 1.  The facility undergoes a name change to "Washington Township Community Park".  Old signage is replaced to reflect name change.

First ever "Avon Community Heritage Festival" is held at park.

(2000) Office assistant is hired to help with office duties.  Plans underway to build additional maintenance building to provide small office for staff and break room for all employees.

Several goals for the year include minor and major landscaping improvements and trail maintenance.
