Citizens Police Academy
The citizens academy was started over a decade ago to help connect with our community. Over the past several years, we have continued to develop this curriculum to improve the program.
The academy is held on Tuesday evenings from 6 pm to 9 pm beginning in April. Participants will be provided an opportunity to complete a ride-along with our agency and a graduation ceremony at the conclusion of the program.
Program Subjects & Services
During the course of this academy, participants will have the opportunity to engage in hands-on police training and partake in traffic stops, emergency vehicle operations, physical tactics, experience our firearms simulator and even be exposed to the effects of the taser.
Participants will learn more about the realities of working as a uniformed officer and what it takes to conduct complex criminal investigations with our detectives. Participants will actually train side-by-side with our agency and engage in a number of training scenarios. The goal of this academy is to educate the public to the realities of law enforcement and to connect on a personal level with our community.
